This Saturday is a big day in New Plymouth. First up is the Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza, which starts with a colourful parade through the central city at 10.30am. The action moves to Yarrows Stadium, where thousands celebrate cultural diversity through music, dance, food and craft.
At Kent Rd, the Taranaki Aviation Transport and Technology Museum is combining the Great Taranaki Scarecrow Day with a fair that runs 10.30am to 3.30pm.
In the evening Mark Knopfler takes the stage at the Bowl of Brooklands. The Christmas lighting displays in adjacent Pukekura Park will be switched on for the weekend.
