A nationwide photo challenge has revealed what Kiwis really enjoy doing in Australia.
Since March the Australian Tourist Commission has challenged New Zealanders to submit snap shots of unique holiday experiences they have had across the Tasman.
Last week close to 800 budding New Zealand photographers had their work assessed as judges convened to select eight regional winners and one overall winner.
Judges Petra Bagust, Qantas Marketing Manager David Libeau, travel photographer Kevin Emirali and TV3's Pieta Keating said their task was difficult because the standard of entries was so high.
Judges awarded Peter Wise from Nelson the national prize of a 10-day holiday for two anywhere in Australia for his stunning photo of Hamersley Gorge in Western Australia.
The eight regional winners are as follows:
Auckland/Northland: Robert Jones from Howick, Auckland.
Waikato/Bay of Plenty: Jenny Boon from Taupo, Bay of Plenty.
Manawatu/Wanganui/Taranaki: Nev Davidson from Wanganui.
Gisborne/Hawke's Bay: Louise Beresford from Hawke's Bay.
Wellington/Wairarapa: Julie Webb from Lower Hutt.
Nelson/Marlborough/West Coast: Peter Wise from Nelson.
Canterbury: Jack McChesney from Kaikoura.
Otago/Southland: Yvonne Davis from Gore.
