A group of hikers had to be rescued from the Austrian Alps after a local guide allegedly got drunk and abandoned them.
Emergency services were called to Rax Mountain to assist the 60 Hungarian tourists as bad weather set in, the Independent reported.
A member of the group reported the incident after he and his daughter got lost, claiming their guide had been drinking since they left for their hike at 3pm.
The group was lead to safety by 12 mountain rescuers, while the allegedly drunk guide had managed to make his own way down.
While he had no explanation for his actions, he claimed to have not consumed any alcohol during the trip. Police said he was not breath tested, as no one was hurt in the incident.
