More than 700,000 of all international travellers to Australia last year used the internet to get information before their visit.
In a report called Tourism and the New Economy, Australian Minister of Tourism Jackie Kelly says it is imperative that tourism businesses develop their market by using all available technology as the world economy moves rapidly into the dotcom era.
New Zealand visitors accounted for 16 per cent of visitors to Australia, but only 6.7 per cent of those used the internet to get information on overseas travel.
