The National Gallery of Victoria presents more than 250 extraordinary works by the greatest Viennese artists of the early 20th century, who were noted for their stylish, often provocative works. Vienna: Art & Design features stunning pieces by Gustav Klimt (Portrait of Emilie Floge, 1902), including nine major paintings and a full scale facsimile of his 30-metre-long Beethovenfries from the Vienna Secession building. The paintings of Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Carl Moll, Koloman Moser and other masters of Viennese Modernism are also on display, as are exquisite decorative and interior design objects such as furniture, jewels, silver and ceramic wares by Josef Hoffmann and the Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workshop).
