Feb 17-27, Palm Springs, USA
In the mid-20th century, Hollywood's glitterati were drawn by Palm Springs' year-round sunshine and ruggedly beautiful landscape.
They engaged notable architects to design elegant yet informal homes that fused with the landscape, creating a style that became known as Desert Modernism.
The annual Modernism Week is a mixture of education and entertainment tinged with the glamour of the city's halcyon days.
It includes a Modernism Show, films, design lectures, swanky parties, art exhibitions, nostalgic music events and retro fashion shows. Double-decker bus tours of mid-century architecture happen daily, and there'll be a home tour of Palm Springs' most glamorous celebrity homes.
