Nov 30-Dec 18, Rochester, England
Charles Dickens spent parts of his life in the Rochester area of southeast England, and Rochester Castle and other local landmarks are mentioned in his works.
The Dickens Christmas Market is held within the grounds of the imposing castle, and during the season its walls are illuminated with Christmas colours and the trees lit with Christmas lights.
Along with a huge number of stalls, the market features decorated chalets, a giant Christmas tree and a carousel.
Entertainers, bands, carol singers and characters from Dickens' novels add to the atmosphere, and during the Dickensian Christmas Special on December 3 and 4 there'll be street parades, readings, songs and dance.
