Stretch your legs this weekend with a stroll around the historic and artistic sites of Onehunga.
The Onehunga Art & Heritage Walks brochure describes the Maungakiekie walk and the Manukau walk, which take about one hour each.
The walks include many of Onehunga's heritage buildings, such as the Church of the Assumption and Carnegie Free Library, which is now used as a restaurant and bar.
They pass historic sites such as Jellicoe Park and Waikaraka Park, which was used for horse racing in the late 1800s.
The Maungakiekie walk passes some of Onehunga's quirky works of art, such as the ceramic Mainstreet Seat and Table, and De Loo, a public toilet decorated with Art Nouveau-style wrought iron.
