An after-dark kayak tour designed for stargazers takes paddlers away from city lights in Victoria, Canada.

Canadian astronomer Jean Godin accompanies the evening tour through the Chain Island Group to explain some of the mysteries of Saturn, Jupiter, the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy.

High-power telescopes provide splendid views of Saturn's rings, Jupiter's Red Spot and the Orion Nebula.

The tour, which includes a pre-paddle dinner, beach feast and post-paddle liqueurs, costs $C150 ($200).
