Tour operator Contiki has announced a new 'round the world' trip of epic proportions.
The New Seven Wonders trip aims to take a group of adventurous 18-35 year olds on a bucket-list ticking tour of the world's greatest monuments with a new twist.
The original "Seven Wonders" of the ancient world are in a sorry state. What used to be a rite of passage for the classical explorer is now not much more than a tour of ruins. Of the magnificent seven, only one is still standing and even then, the Great Pyramid of Giza is only barely hanging on.
Which is why in 2000 Bernard Weber decided to nominate a new list of seven wonders, breathing fresh life into the tour and opening it up the world.
Using the early internet to select a new list for the 21st century Weber "urged the world's citizens to participate in this free vote and pay tribute to our collective global heritage."
