Over the hump
The Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track is now open, but only on weekends until December 15. Upcoming events include a 24-hour walking endurance event on February 3.
Garden glory
Cross Hills Gardens in Kimbolton, near Palmerston North, is ablaze with rhododendrons and azaleas during spring. On November 19, visit Cross Hills Country Fair, which boasts about 100 gift stalls. Entry is $10 (adult), under-16s free.
