Clean and green sailing on the Nile

Geckos Adventures' Clean-up-the-Nile trips offer an 11-day holiday with a twist.

Participants visit many of the major sights in Cairo and Aswan before sailing off in feluccas to visit the temples at Komombo and Edfu.

Along the way they spend a couple of days helping to clean up campsites on the banks and islands of the Nile.

As an incentive to think green, Geckos has taken 50 per cent off the regular price from Cairo. The trip now costs $795. Departures are on April 28 and May 12.

Every year thousands of travellers sail down the Nile on traditional feluccas, camping along the way.

Regrettably, a lot of litter is left behind.
