Moderation was not the key when Crystal Cruises was designing new seabound journeys for this Christmas and New Year.
The cruise line is adding lots more glamour, more convenience and offering more savings on fares for travellers on the six-star rated Crystal Symphony's first 14-day cruise through the Mexican Riviera and back to Los Angeles.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra, joined by the star of The Glenn Miller Story, actress June Allyson, will be on board to provide the Big Band sounds, especially during the 2002 New Year's Eve party.
More than $US100,000 ($240,000 ) of seasonal decor, including handcrafted ornaments, ornate sleighs and 12 twinkling Christmas trees will adorn the ship.
Departure day is December 21 from Los Angeles where it heads for San Diego, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, Puerto Vallarta and La Paz. The ship returns to Los Angeles on January 4, 2002.
Discounted fares start at $US4495 ($10,756) each, double occupancy.
The Crystal Symphony also has the only Caesar's Palace at Sea casino.
And, for those needing a capable dance partner when the Glenn Miller Orchestra takes the stage, the ship's Ambassador Hosts have been polishing up on their dancing skills.
