Christchurch river glows for competition

The Avon River in Christchurch will be aglow on Saturday when contestants in the Gurneygears Glow, Glow, Glow Your Boat competition paddle down the river with Steve Gurney. Entrants are encouraged to light up their craft with an imaginative display such as flashing lights or disco balls. Prizes will be given for the most innovative ideas on a kayak, canoe or raft. The event includes a pre-race clean-up of the river banks and a barbecue for entrants. All details are online.
