Check out the dairy in Hawera

You can't miss the huge black-and-white cow standing on the corner of SH3 and Whareroa Rd near Hawera. This is Fonterra, and the Dairyland Visitor Centre opens a window on the largest dairy manufacturing site in the world.

There is a simulated tanker ride to collect milk from the surrounding dairy farms and audio-visual and interactive displays about the development of the dairy industry.

Dairyland has a revolving licensed cafe and souvenirs, specialty cheeses and fine icecream are available.

Open 7 days 9am-5 pm. Cafe fully licensed and open late Saturday and Sunday nights.
