The Australian trek company World Expeditions is fostering a clothes bank in Nepal so that trekkers can donate any unwanted fleeces, windproof jackets, boots, sunglasses and other trekking gear for distribution to porters who work in the Himalayas under poor conditions.
New Zealanders can donate gear to one of the six Mountain Design stores in New Zealand. It will be sent to Nepal at the start of each trekking season and distributed by the International Porter Protection Group.
