A sunken Central Park bordered by mirrors has taken out the top prize in a prestigious architecture competition.
The eVolo Magazine 2016 Skyscraper Competition invited architects from all over the world to submit their unique designs for the skyscrapers of the future.
This year's winner was a re-imaging of Central Park as a 1.3-sq mile sunken expanse of mountains and lakes. Yitan Sun and Jianshi Wu's award-winning New York Horizon project proposes digging down to the park's bedrock while creating continuous horizontal skyscraper around it to allow homes with unobstructed views of the park.
Inside, the park's high perimeter would mirrored glass, reflecting the city's architecture.
