About 25 New Zealand wood carvers will set about their craft on Saturday as part of the Wood Carving and Sculpture Symposium and Exhibition in the grounds of Lake House in Takapuna.
The artists have one week to complete their works which will be hewn from large logs.
The completed works will be on display and will be available for sale.
Although carving gets underway this weekend, the exhibition opens officially on April 21 and ends on May 5.
The symposium and exhibition are free.
