Busking competition in Napier

The Napier Buskers' Challenge is being held on Sunday July 6 but intending buskers must register by 25 June.

A total of $1000 in prize money is up for grabs.

Solo acts, groups, musicians and street performers are invited to showcase their talents. A special prize is also offered for the most outstanding student or school group.

Shamus, a professional busker specialising in fire-eating and sword-swallowing, is guest performer during the day, and will judge the street performers.

The event opens at 11am and continues until 3pm. Application forms are available from Napier Inner City Marketing.
