Budget bures in Fiji

A 12-bure development targeted at budget travellers has just opened on the Fijian island of Matacawelevu.

The $300,000 Sunset Beach Resort offers four beachfront bures, each with its own private facilities and hot running water, or couples can choose to stay in a cottage for $F70 ($74) a night for two, and pay $F20 a person for three meals a day. Seven more bures are to be finished by August.

Another hotel is about to be built on Fiji's second-largest island, Vanua Levu. The Central Point Hotel in Labasa will offer just 13 rooms.
