Queensland's tourism gurus have been taking a close look at their Kiwi neighbours across the Tasman, and reckon many New Zealanders see the coastal Australian state as their bach.
More New Zealanders holiday in Australia than in any other place in the world says Tourism Queensland's general manager for New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, Graeme Manson. Queensland is the most frequently visited part of Australia, and the trend is towards visitors from New Zealand staying longer.
The state is prepared for the growth in tourism, Manson says, with every class and range of accommodation, three international airports, 20,530 hotel rooms and nearly 13,000 apartments. Five of the 13 World Heritage Areas are found in Queensland, while it also offers man-made attractions such as Dreamworld and Movie World.
Many travellers don't realise there are also many activities and adventures away from the coast.
