Away from it all

To appreciate the unspoiled beaches and forest, make use of campsites and huts offered by the Department of Conservation. Bunk accommodation is provided at the Pinnacles Hut on top of the Coromandel range, while Stony Bay Hut is in an ideal coastal location.

Cabins and a house are available at Kauaeranga Valley. DoC campsites are found in valleys, next to beaches and alongside rivers. For information on DoC huts and campsites, walking tracks, forest parks and reserves contact the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre, 14km from Thames.
