Tourists planning on seeing New Zealand from the comfort of a motorhome now have the option to spend their first night in the country less than a kilometre from Auckland Airport.
Airport authorities have established a campervan park to allow travellers a chance to get a good night's rest prior to embarking on their journey.
"We opened the new facility to allow greater choice for campervan travellers, offering an easy, affordable and hassle-free service with all the amenities you would expect from a modern facility," said Auckland Airport Commercial Manager Transport, Martyn Brewer.
"Our guests can step off a plane and into their travelling home but make use of the amenities, stock up at the supermarket or get some rest before embarking on their road trip - a recommendation strongly encouraged by all major campervan rental groups to avoid driver fatigue on unfamiliar roads."
The new park has 54 powered bays, access to fresh water, toilets, showers and laundry and kitchen facilities. Wi-Fi is also available and the site is fully fenced, with CCTV and regular security patrols on site.
