Art lovers can immerse themselves in art collections and the towns, seascapes and cities which inspired the great names of impressionist painting by taking a 22-day tour of France and Amsterdam.
The Art and Life of the Impressionist Tour is being hosted by Mary Kisler, curator of international art at the Auckland Art Gallery and art critic on Radio New Zealand's National Programme. It costs $10,599 a person (twin share).
Highlights include the Normandy Coast to Provence and the French Riviera, the land and seascapes which inspired painters such as Monet, Van Gogh, Corot, Pissarro and Sisley. Famous museums are on the itinerary, ranging from the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, to the Picasso Museum in Paris and the Musee d'Orsay. Claude Monet's home at Giverny, with its famous pond of water lilies, is also included.
