Hanmer Springs Motorcycle Tours provide the motorcycle and an itinerary that covers either 300km in half a day, or 400km in a full-day tour.
The Alpine Pacific Triangle covers an area from Hanmer Springs, northeast to Kaikoura - the home of whale watching in New Zealand - then south to the wine-growing area of Waipara.
Stops along the way with morning and afternoon teas of scones and cream, are part of the tours, all personally escorted by the tour company's co-owner, Trevor Devine. Customised tours are also available for those who have specific destinations in mind.
The tours start at $450 a rider, and four motorcycles are available. Pillion passengers ride for considerably less.
