A Christmas holiday next month

Our weather might seem to have its seasons muddled, but the annual mid-winter Christmas tour to the Grand Chateau and National Park is going ahead in June.

Two nights' accommodation in the classic resort at the base of Mt Ruapehu are included in the tour, which also takes in a night at Wairakei Resort, Taupo. Sightseeing includes Ohakune, Waiouru, Turangi and a stop-over in Rotorua.

Travel to the central North Island is by the Overlander rail service, from Auckland on June 25. The three-night tour costs $785 a person, twin-share. A single supplement costs $215.
