Wellington City Council has purchased a bush gully adjoining the reserve at Otari-Wilton's Bush.
The gully boasts original forest trees, including tawa, totara and northern rata, and a small stream. Otari-Wilton's Bush is home to most of the city's remaining virgin forest and offers great picnic spots just 10 minutes from the central business district.
The reserve is open daily between sunrise and sunset and the information centre is open 8am-4pm daily.
There is wheelchair access, and guided tours can be booked.
