A family airlifted to safety at Tolaga Bay this morning lost everything to flooding.
Two adults and their grandchild were forced up on to the roof at 4am.
There were rainfall levels of 145mls recorded in Tauranga and near the Kaimai Ranges.
A severe weather watch is in force for heavy rain for Northland between 3am and 3pm.
Slip in Karangahake Gorge and road closure in Katikati due to flooding.
