Police say the manhunt in the central North Island is an "unfolding situation". Central District Commander Superintendent Sue Schwalger said this morning that "the first challenge is we don't know where these offenders are." Schwalger urged Dolphy Kahu to hand himself in.

Two injured in Otahuhu house fire

The owners of a house damaged in an explosion earlier today are thankful they weren't at home with their baby at the time. Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire this morning after they were called about the fire by commuters who saw the blaze from the motorway. A fire service spokesman said two people were found inside the home by staff. They were removed and given first aid, before St John arrived.

Raw: Car flips outside Auckland school

A car flipped outside a primary school in Auckland this morning and nearly landed on a woman in a parked car. The crash took place outside Hillsborough Primary School at around 8.50am. One person suffered serious injuries in the incident. St John ambulance said it took three other people to hospital, two with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries.

The protesters are near the top of the building. Two are holding yellow signs saying "This is real climate action." The protesters are in jump suits and have secured themselves using ropes. Eight people, including five university students, have been taken to hospital after two buses collided on Auckland's North Shore this morning. The buses collided on Taharoto Rd near Smales Farm Bus Station in Takapuna about 8.40am.

Hitchhiker hit by car in Te Puke, seriously injured

A hitchhiker hit by a car in Te Puke has been taken to hospital in a serious condition. Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the 29-year-old Asian woman had been standing on the grass verge when she was struck by the car.
