Zespri International's kiwifruit sales to the key market of China are unimpeded despite one of its independent importing agents being arrested for alleged tax evasion.
Simon Limmer, Zespri's group general manager growers and government relations, said the fruit continued to move and the company was being paid.
Its Shanghai agent, Liu Xiongjie, is in custody on suspicion of under-invoicing imported kiwifruit. He is accused of evading US$9.4 million ($11 million) in import duties since 2007.
