A group of primary school pupils have proved big things can come from small packages.
At the South Otago A&P Society's first Giant Pumpkin Competition, a group of Clutha Valley Primary School pupils won first place in the children's section with their whopping 12.9kg pumpkin.
They also received the ''best in show'' award for the largest pumpkin overall.
Teacher Reegan Tourell said they had been growing the pumpkin at the school for over a year after the school was given seeds by the A&P society.
''We were just looking after and it's just gone crazy,'' she said.
