Border security is on alert to prevent a disease-carrying pest found in the Cook Islands threatening New Zealand vineyards.
A Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry spokesman said the glassywinged sharpshooter spread Pierce's disease, which attacked plants' vascular systems.
