Teviot Valley to host Young Farmers regional final

Teviot Valley Young Farmers Club is gearing up for a big event.

The club is hosting the Otago-Southland regional final of the FMG Young Farmer of the Year on February 18.

The practical part of the event is being held in conjunction with the Mt Benger A&P Show in Roxburgh and the evening session in the town hall and theatre.

A committee made up of club members was established several months ago and preparations were going well, club member Tara Dwyer said.

Otago-Southland Young Farmers chairman and Teviot Valley club member Chris Pemberton, himself a former regional finalist, is convener of the organising committee.

Holding the regional final at the A&P show should hopefully be good for both the show and the competition, Miss Dwyer said.

The evening show would include a quiz, followed by dinner, an awards ceremony and an after-party with live entertainment.

The club, which meets monthly in Millers Flat, has more than 25 members and, as well as fundraising, has a lot of social activities.
