A good yarding of quality prime sheep created a strong opening to the Dannevirke Sheep Sale on November 8.
There were 1500 prime sheep up for sale and the prices paid reflected quality of animals with the top price for prime ewes reaching $179/head and a pen of prime lambs reaching $153/head. Most prime ewes ranged from $110/head to $150/head.
A very large crowd attended the first sale of spring lambs, with more than 2000 on offer. The top pens ranged between $120 and $128 per head while the smaller lambs sold for $50/head to $100/head.
