The fish were biting for the more than 140 competitors in the Glenorchy fishing competition on Saturday.
Co-organiser Hayley Jones said 89 fish - a mixture of salmon and brown and rainbow trout - were caught.
The number was up on previous years, despite the varied conditions.
Former Glenorchy resident Seamus Hickey, now of Christchurch, won the overall junior-child trophy after reeling in a 1.59kg brown trout from a boat just off Kinloch.
