The first dairy beef sale of 2018 was a small yarding of 261 stock on January 9 but there was good quality resulting in a big increase in prices from the December sale due to good rain in recent weeks.
As a result buyers from Central and Southern Hawke's Bay as well as the Wairarapa were keen to purchase the quality stock presented.
Just under 100 Friesian bulls sold well, the top price of $600 going to PJ & SG Goldsworthy with most making $535-585.
