Ilsa Rose-Witt from Seattle looks forward to cooling off with a tub of real fruit boysenberry ice cream served by Holly Norman from Havelock North.

Berry grower Bruce Hanna reckons this is the wettest summer he can recall.

While it has affected the annual harvest, it hasn't stopped the Hanna Berry farm's ice-cream trailer at the roadside stall on Longlands Road from being popular.

"This has been the wettest summer I can remember. While our boysenberry season has been somewhat affected by the rain, our stall has been busy every day," Hanna said.

The Hanna family have been growing boysenberries since 1980 and employ up to 30 high school students for early-morning picking.

"Our pickers have been great this year, I am just sorry we haven't had more work for them," Hanna said.

"We are having our last fresh pick today, but we still have plenty of frozen boysenberries for jams and smoothies."
