Two people are confirmed to have died after a microlight crashed near Kaka Point in the Catlins. Video/Southern Stringers

Police have released the names of two people killed in the microlight crash at Kaka Point in the Catlins yesterday.

They were Thomas John Evans, 30, and Jenna Frances Craig, 26, both of south Otago.

The Civil Aviation Authority have arrived at the crash scene and begun their scene examination, which is likely to take two days.

A joint police and CAA investigation will be overseen by the coroner.
