The Northland College farm has not been immune to the long dry summer, farm committee member Suzanne Brocx saying it looked bit drier and browner than ideal, but supplement feed saved last year and crops had enabled milking to continue.
"This term we will finish the renovations of the 'cowshed classroom,' she said.
"Hopefully this will be a place where students can take time out to reflect and consider what they are learning on the farm."
Ms Brocx and the contract milker would work with Ag staff and students to review and develop farm plans, such as health and safety, environment and biosecurity, so they could be up and running this year.
The committee also congratulated students Redginald Reihana, Taniela Mafua, McKenzie Narbey-Nimeti and Ben Komene, who had been accepted for the Telford — Southland Institute of Technology agri course this year.
