The Rotorua Rural Community Board has a new member after only one person applied for the seat left vacant when Euan McLachlan stood down earlier this month.
Applications for the position closed today and Bryce Heard was elected unopposed.
Mr Heard has lived in Rotorua since 1984 and is the owner operator of Pampas Heights Deer Stud in Kaharoa.
He has an extensive background of business management and corporate governance having worked as the chief executive of Lockwood Homes for five years, Scion for eight years and Tasman Forestry for nine years.
He is also chairman of the CNI Wood Action group and a member of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce and Bay of Connections.
