A total of 133 of the best sheep, goat and alpaca fleeces in New Zealand and perhaps the world will be judged in Tarras today.
The annual National Golden Fleece Competition is being hosted by the Upper Clutha A&P Society in Wanaka for the second year running.
The wool was being tested and weighed yesterday in preparation for judging.
Convener Martin Paterson said the competition was about "growing quality''.
The public has an opportunity to get involved at events in Wanaka on June 9 and 10.
