Milligans Food Group joins GDT Marketplace

Oamaru-based company Milligans Food Group is among three additional dairy ingredient suppliers to join Global Dairy Trade's GDT Marketplace.

Milligans supplies and manufactures food ingredients, consumer food products and animal nutrition products.

Specialised food and food service products were manufactured, blended and packed on-site then marketed across New Zealand, Australia, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the United States.

Milligans will offer 1kg packaged whole milk powder and skim milk powder, and powder blends including 1kg instant calcium enriched powder and soft-serve ice cream blends.

The other new sellers were Glanbia Ireland, Ireland's largest dairy processor, with annual turnover of 1.5billion ($NZ2.55billion), and United States-based dairy co-operative Cayuga Milk Ingredients which processes milk from 30 family-owned dairy farms in upstate New York.

In a statement, GDT director Eric Hansen said the trading platform had achieved rapid growth over the past six months. It now had 11 registered sellers and 239 registered buyers from the United States, Western Europe, Oceania and Asia.

It acted like a global shopfront, allowing transactions of dairy products at any time, with no minimum quantity rules.

The new sellers would offer listings on GDT Marketplace from this month.
