A man remains in a critical condition in Dunedin Hospital after a grader he was driving rolled down a hillside and into a quarry in the Catlins on Wednesday.
Senior Constable Murray Hewitson, of Owaka, said the 65-year-old man was driving the grader on a rural property near Chloris Pass Rd in the Owaka Valley.
The vehicle rolled down a hill and into a quarry about noon on Wednesday, he said.
St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said the man was airlifted by Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition.
A WorkSafe spokeswoman confirmed it had been notified of the incident and was investigating.
