If you're going to preview the show shearing season there's no better person to chat to than a legend of the sport - Sir David Fagan.
The Kiwi champion spoke to The Country about the next few months which will be extremely busy for the shearing world with loads of shows leading up to the Southern Shears, Golden Shears and the New Zealand Shearing Championships.
Things were already in full swing over the weekend with Rowland Smith successfully defending both the Wairoa and Horowhenua shows Open titles and Napier shearer John Kirkpatrick winning the New Zealand crossbred lambshearing title at the Winton A and P Show.
Not only that but Sir David's son Jack won at Kaikohe after a 12-hour round trip of almost 900km to attend the event.
Also in today's interview - Sir David Fagan talks to Jamie Mackay about what it takes to be a show shearer and whether he thinks there are enough young people to keep the New Zealand shearing industry alive.
