It was a big day yesterday in Te Kuiti when the town's most famous son Sir Colin Meads had a statue unveiled in his honour.

The Country's Jamie Mackay was in attendance and interviewed a few well-known names in sport who were there to celebrate Pinetree.

First up, Sir David Fagan or as Jamie calls him "Te Kuiti's second most famous son". The shearing legend spoke to Mackay about how proud he is for his home town and for the Meads' family. Sir David has had a look at not only the statue but the Meads museum and was impressed with the display and the volume of memorabilia.

Next Jamie catches up with a man whose voice most New Zealanders will recognise, Keith Quinn.

The legendary rugby broadcaster was the MC for the event which has special meaning for Quinn as he was born in Te Kuiti.

Keith shares one of his favourite stories about Pinetree which turns out to be a bit of an exclusive!
