The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards took place at Sky City Convention Centre on Saturday. The Country's Jamie Mackay caught up with a couple of the big winners at the event, Christopher and Siobhan O'Malley who went home with the Share Farmer of the Year award.
The Ashburton couple didn't start out in the dairy industry. Christopher was a tourism guide and Siobhan was a secondary school teacher. They made the change to farming and haven't looked back.
Jamie asks the O'Malley's why they think they won the big award, how they've coped with two tough seasons and the importance of the relationship between share milkers and the farm owner.
