The Country: It was a triple clean sweep at the New Zealand Shearing Championships for the man who quite literally stands head and shoulders above all others this season.

The Country's Jamie Mackay caught up with champion shearer Rowland Smith today to find out what he makes of Sir Colin Meads refereeing to him as a "tall bugger".

At two meters in height Smith is literally head and shoulders above the competition which he proved last weekend with a triple clean sweep at the New Zealand Shearing Championships in Te Kuiti.

However, Rowland is not resting on his laurels and he tells Jamie about his plan to go to England to have a crack at the solo eight-hours strongwool ewe shearing record later this year.
