The Ministry for Primary Industries has announced the current number of 'active' Infected Properties (quarantined under movement restrictions) has risen from 28 to 30.
MPI's Director of Response for M. bovis Geoff Gwyn spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay about the development, saying "this isn't a game changer."
"We fully expected to find more, from our point of view this doesn't change our view the disease is not endemic."
The infected properties are dairy farms in Ashburton and both are connected via animal movements to other known infected properties, but it is not just a dairy problem says Gwyn.
"It is a problem for both [the] meat and dairy sector, but principally at the moment we have been finding it on dairy."
