A new book called Our Land Our People is "unashamedly" positive about New Zealand farmers and their families.
Author and farming entrepreneur, Ross Hyland spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay about his book, which showcases 24 farming families and operations the length of New Zealand.
Hyland says in his introduction to Our Land Our People – in search of farming excellence, that there has been a "recent rise in negativity towards farming from some commentators," and that this book is his way of celebrating the positive side of New Zealand agriculture.
Hyland says the rules for choosing families for his book were quite simple. One, he had to know the family "reasonably well," and two, "to be quite frank, they had to side in the good bastards club."
"They're just wonderful people and at the end of the day ... the book is about the people."
