Today The Country catches up with Head of Corporate Agri-business for Crowe Horwath, Hayden Dillon as he updates us on day two of the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales at Karaka.
Dillon says the current mood of the sales "depends on which side you're on."
Vendors are enjoying a much improved start with reasonably strong sales last night which means that buyers are having to pay "big money."
There is money to be made and good deals to be had says Hayden but it really "comes down to how astute you are."
Also in today's interview - Hayden talks about how much of the buying power at the sales is from overseas, Winston Peters' plan for a synthetic racing track and he gives his state of the nation for New Zealand's agriculture.
